Process Diagrams: Natural Cycles, Manufacturing & Passive Voice

⏱ Process Reporting 🎯 Passive Voice Mastery 📊 Sequential Connectors

Process tasks depict either a man-made manufacturing assembly line (e.g. brick manufacturing, coffee processing) or a biological life cycle (e.g. the life cycle of the salmon). The single most critical grammatical criterion for man-made processes is the systematic use of the Passive Voice, since the human agents performing the actions are irrelevant to the industrial output.

Passive Voice Formulations in Manufacturing

❌ Active Voice (Avoid in Industrial Tasks):

"Workers dig up clay using an excavator. Then they put the clay onto a metal grid."

✅ Passive Voice (Band 8.5+ Standard):

"Initially, raw clay is extracted from the ground via a mechanical excavator. Subsequently, the material is placed onto an industrial metal grid, where it is crushed into fine grains."
