Privacy Policy

Last revised: November 2, 2026

At Draftsbook, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection, usage, disclosures, cookies, and your legal rights under global data protection frameworks (including GDPR and CCPA).

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide, personalize, and improve our developer tutorials, educational curricula, coding playgrounds, and interactive community services:

  • Account Information: When you register on Draftsbook, we collect your name, email address, password hash, and optional profile details (avatar, GitHub/Twitter handles, bio).
  • Learning Progress & Telemetry: We record article reading completions, quiz answers, bookmark selections, and gamification XP logs to maintain your learning streaks and track course progression.
  • Billing Information: Payments for Draftsbook Pro subscriptions or lifetime licenses are processed directly via Stripe. Draftsbook never stores your full credit card number; we only receive tokenized customer identifiers, subscription statuses, and transaction receipts.
  • Technical & Log Data: Like most web applications, our servers automatically log internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser types, internet service providers (ISPs), referring/exit pages, operating systems, date/time stamps, and clickstream data.

2. Cookies & Third-Party Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use cookies, web beacons, and local storage mechanisms to keep you logged in, preserve your daylight/dark theme preferences, and provide relevant advertising support for our free educational curricula.

Important Mandatory Disclosure Regarding Google AdSense & Advertising Partners:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to Draftsbook or other websites on the internet.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve contextually relevant advertisements to our visitors based on their browsing activities.
  • To understand how Google collects and processes data when you use partner sites, review Google's partner disclosure: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Opting Out of Personalized Advertising

You have the right to control how advertising cookies are used on your device:

  • You can opt out of personalized advertising directly through Google Ads Settings.
  • You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA) portal at youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Subscribers to Draftsbook Pro enjoy a completely ad-free reading experience, where all advertising scripts and tracking pixels are automatically disabled.

3. Your Legal Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)

Depending on your location (including the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and California), you possess statutory privacy rights regarding your personal data:

Right to Access & Portability

Request an export of all personal data, snippets, and progress history stored by Draftsbook.

Right to Erasure ("To Be Forgotten")

Permanently delete your user account, comments, and profile data from our primary databases.

Right to Rectification

Correct incomplete or inaccurate personal information directly via your account settings.

Right to Withdraw Consent

Withdraw consent for non-essential cookies and analytics at any time via the consent banner.

Draftsbook does not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties. We do not engage in unauthorized automated profiling.

4. Data Security & Retention

We implement industry-standard cryptographic protections, including strict TLS 1.3 encryption in transit, Argon2id password hashing, HTTP-only SameSite cookies, and database encryption at rest. We retain your account data only as long as your account remains active or as required by financial auditing regulations.
