The 2-Minute Long Turn: 1-Minute Framework & Storytelling

⏱ 1 Min Prep + 2 Min Talk 🎯 Cue Card Architecture 📊 Narrative Coherence

The Chronological 3-Act Storytelling Method

Candidates who follow the cue card's bullet points mechanically often run out of things to say after 80 seconds. In contrast, top candidates structure their response like a miniature screenplay:

Act 1: Setting & Context (~35s)

Past Background

Set the scene: when and where did this event take place? Who were you with? Use past narrative tenses (Past Continuous, Past Perfect) to establish atmospheric depth.

Act 2: The Core Event (~50s)

Sensory Details & Conflict

Detail what actually unfolded. Introduce an unforeseen obstacle, a humorous mix-up, or a striking sensory impression that keeps the narrative compelling.

Act 3: Reflection (~35s)

Long-Term Impact

Reflect on why this experience mattered to your personal growth. Switch to the Present Perfect or Unreal Conditional: "Had I not taken that opportunity, I doubt I would be...".
